The University of Sheffield, located in South Yorkshire, is one of the original red brick, Russell Group, universities. The University was formed by the merger of three colleges in 1905. The estate, designed by architects Jack Lynn and Ivor Smith (under city architect John Lewis Womersley), attempted to bring the treasured traditional British street culture into what has been nicknamed, the ‘streets in the sky‘.
