Arts Töwer, Sheffield
- Date 2018
- Medium B&W print
- Dimensions A2, A3
A landmark of both the University of Sheffield and the skyline of the city in which it sits. Designed by Gollins, Melvin, Ward & Partners, the Arts Tower still remains the tallest university building in the UK since its opening in 1966, and contains one of the last surviving paternoster lifts in Europe. It is also home to the Sheffield School of Architecture.
This playful piece perceives this magnificent example of Miesian architecture as a kit of parts – synonymous with the repeating and manufactured elements that characterise the International Style.
This notion is taken a step further, whereby the illustration takes the format of a set of instructions by Swedish flatpack furniture designer and manufacture, IKEA.
